On May 9, 2013, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company officially opened its new global headquarters in Akron, Ohio, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting event attended by a large crowd of employees and supporters from local and state government offices.

Goodyear Chairman and CEO Rich Kramer said the building represents many positive attributes of both Goodyear and its hometown:

“With its advanced technology and collaborative work environment, the new headquarters is providing our associates with great opportunities to come together as one team,” Kramer said.

The company broke ground two years ago and started moving in earlier this year.

The building has 639,000 square feet with seven floors and hosts almost 2,000 employees.

Goodyear’s global headquarters has been in Akron since 1898.
