This past late August I went to Frank Seiberling’s estate called “Stan Hywet”, meaning “stone quarry”. in Akron, Ohio.
Frank was the founder of Good/Year Tire and Rubber Company. The estate was built between 1912 and 1915. It is located at 714 North Portage Path in Akron, Ohio.
Went into nonpublic areas of the house. Very interesting. Also walked threw all the amazing gardens that his wife Gertrude enjoyed… she loved gardening.
They employed, New York City interior designer, Hugo Huber and Cleveland architect, Charles Schneider to design there 64,500 sq.ft. dream home and Boston landscape designer, Warren Manning to do there gardens.
I tried to put together a video, but you really need to go there to see it for yourself. This place is well worth a visit! Really enjoyed it.
