This is footage my uncle, Richard Mitten, shot of his hometown, Akron, Ohio in 1957. It was rare that an amateur like my Uncle Dick was using a 16mm camera at that time. Even rarer that it is in color. There are shots of Downtown Akron including Main Street during the Summer and Christmas Time as well as the Portage Lakes and West Exchange.

There is even better footage at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpcVBNcM0iE

Many thanks to everyone who has watched the video and shared their memories. A great walk down memory lane to the “good old days!”

The music is a Nat King Cole track called “Imagination” from that time period.
