Summit Lake was the dumping ground for Akron’s industry for 100 years. The EPA has warnings not to consume ANY fish from the lake. The lake is also in a VERY BAD neighborhood. This is the big lake visible from Rt 77 South in Akron. The lake drains BOTH to the Mississippi Drainage system and to the Great Lakes AT THE SAME TIME. Tho Ohio and Erie Canal also enters and exists the lake which directly connects it to the Portage Lakes and the Tuscarawas River. The Tow Path for the canal is maintained for hikers and bikers
